Job Description
Blitzpanel is building the control panel factory - quoting, engineering, and building industrial control panels faster with less back-and-forth. We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to own panel design quality and throughput end-to-end.
Title: Electrical Engineer, Head of Panel Design
Location: Austin, TX (preferred) / Remote (US)
Type: Full-time (open to contract-to-hire)
Comp: $130k-$180k base (DOE) + meaningful equity + performance upside
Mission
Manufacturing is reshoring, but automation projects get stuck on engineering bandwidth and messy specs. Our mission is to make panel engineering and assembly feel like a modern factory process - fast, repeatable, and correct.
What you’ll do
- Own our panel drawing package standard (SLD, schematics, layout, BOM, wiring/termination plan).
- Turn rough customer specs into buildable, inspection-friendly designs with minimal iteration.
- Build and maintain templates, libraries, and rules so design time drops as volume increases.
- Work tightly with the shop to ensure designs are fast to build, serviceable, and low-defect.
- Help shape our software tooling by being the power user and defining requirements.
Technical requirements
- Strong experience designing industrial control panels (real deliverables, not just theory).
- You can produce full packages: schematic + layout + BOM + wire/termination plan.
- Practical understanding of build constraints: wire duct, bend radius, labeling, service loops, terminal strategy.
- Comfortable making calls and owning standards (templates, checklists, revision control).
Education (flexible)
We care more about proven output than pedigree. If you’ve shipped lots of panels and can show your work (redacted is fine), that’s what matters.
Bonus
- UL 508A / SCCR familiarity.
